Tubmanburg’s coconut-selling single-mom found. But she’s still asking for U.S. $100.00 loan

Proverbs 3:27 adds this: “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.”

Miama at work Wednesday in Bomi Hills.
Miama says she’s still hopeful that a helper will come her way.

Early this year, we published a human-interest story on one middle-aged mother, spotted selling coconuts along the main street in Bomi Hills, a town in Bomi County, wrecked by the civil war. We did no interview nor asked for the lady’s name: we published her story out of pure empathy, to call attention to her plight. Days later, Ekklesia got a text from a benevolent Liberian who lives in Florida. She wanted to help this mother of three children. The Tubmanburg woman had stopped selling due to poor business season and heavy rainfall in this region. A search for the lady proved futile. Fortunately, on Wednesday, December 17, we found her selling at her usual spot in town. For the first time we learned she’s Miama Tarpeh. We showed her our story, and she looked exceedingly happy. We told her how we had sent out people in July to search her out but to no avail. We also learned nothing has changed since our first encounter in April when she told us she was looking for someone to give her U.S. $100.00 loan so she could pay back later. See link here:  In Liberia, a nation of ‘rich people’ & mineral resources, one struggling mom is seeking $100.00 loan to stay in business –For Maima, whose husband somehow abandoned the family, and vanished years ago, leaving her with three kids to feed and school, begging to survive wasn’t an option. Instead, she chose to do even the most degrading jobs for their survival and still do so today, hoping that help will come one day. Thanks to God Almighty and her spirit of resiliency.
