“ECOMOG” jeep found in Minneapolis
Liberians, does the object in this picture look familiar? Think again! Hundreds of jeeps identical to this one in photo were shipped by Africa’s Superpower Nigeria, to the West African nation of Liberia during the 90s for ECOMOG Peacekeeping military operations. Liberians from every corner of the country plus foreign visitors to the country during the war eras must be quite familiar with this jeep. Unlike Liberia, where for instance locals have been barred especially in the past and perhaps, now from wearing military uniforms, including caps, let alone using obsolete military vehicles such as the one in the picture, people living in these United States are free to purchase old military trucks or jeeps as well as hardwares for personal usage. Photo shot last week by James Kokulo Fasuekoi in North Minneapolis, Minnesota.
